I recently appeared for an exam in ‘keyboard’ skills from the
Trinity College of London . This exam was held in Rajdoot Hotel in Rajkot on 20th
November 2011. The examiner was from London. He called us in one at a time to
test our knowledge on various aspects of music.
When I entered the examination hall, I found myself uneasy
and unsure . This was largely because in the last month of
preparation, I had to manage my time between school assessments and preparation
for the Trinity exam. All this juggling left me little time to prepare for the
exam in a way in which I would have liked. Thus, the reason for my tensed state of mind!
However, I found the environment in the exam hall very cordial and warm. I took
a deep breath and started my examination.
When the results were out, I could
not believe my ears! The results said that I had scored 94 marks out of 100. I
stood 1st in the whole of Gujarat and 7th in the whole
world.
It wasn’t the rank that I had achieved, instead the opportunity
to go to another level of study in music that thrilled me most. I gained
confidence and got exposure which I know will be more valuable to me than the
ranks or results that I will ever achieve.
