SPORTS CENTRE
The tges sports centre functions as
an integral part of the school curriculum and aims at promoting optimal
physical, mental, emotional and personal experiences to its students.
We provide each student with a
competitive experience based upon the needs, interests and capabilities of the
students.
We support high standards of
sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
We provide our students with the
opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and we support that all
students irrespective of their abilities will be given a fair chance to develop
vital skills that are essential to life: Perseverence, endurance, sportsmanship
spirit, Self-discipline, and commitment.
Our programme ensures that each
child realizes his/her unique strengths and we develop that further thereby
creating opportunities for students to find success at their own level.
We realize the importance of
instilling values of leading a healthy active life right from ones formative
years.
We believe the athletic
participation develops positive character traits and these skills. of life in
turn make our students into well grounded human beings
Our objective this year:
Focus - Narrow and Deep.
Our plan
this year is to have students go through coaching of only 2 games in a year
instead of going through all games in rotation (previous years’ plan).
This year
we will be offering 8 games (Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Football,
Table-Tennis, Rifle-Shooting, Volleyball and Squash) to all students. Students
are required to choose any one game for the first term (first 5 months of the
school academic year) and optimize their skills in that game. After the first
term they will select another game and stay with that game for the remaining
second term of school. All games have limited seats, so it is possible that
many students apply for a common game, e.g. Cricket where seats are only 30. In
such a case there will be a selection round where selection will be bases of
aptitude. Hence those who don’t clear the selection round will have to choose a
second game of choice for first term and then apply for Cricket again the
following term.
Our goal
here is to allow students to realize their own potential, hone their skills and
provide opportunities to all.
