Mathematics is said to be the Queen of all sciences. This subject is entwined in almost every aspect of nature and thus, in our lives. No wonder, then, that at TGES,Math occupies a pivotal position in the curriculum of each grade, right from kindergarten level. And, every math teacher makes an ardent endeavor to ensure that not only teaching but learning of mathematics takes place.Children are encouraged to ask the right questions, not just to get the right answers; to become independent thinkers and learners; to develop a variety of strategies – including logic, mental math and visualization - for solving problems; (strategies are a mathematician’s “tool-kit” after all !!). Students are meticulously guided to attain their individual desired goals. A math lab has been set up to facilitate this process.

The senior school math faculty consists of highly qualified and experienced teachers, holding degrees from renowned Indian and the UK universities. Teachers in prep school through Std. 8 lay the foundation. Senior school teachers very purposefully reflect on the students’ previous learning and on their role in preparing them for the Board exams, tests and competitions(like Ramanujan Mathematical Society, Olympiads, NTSE, PRL,KVPY, Quantas etc), and their future learning.

The growth of mathematics during the last few years has been phenomenal. Two decades ago, students experienced math as a study of numbers and geometrical figures. Today's student must have a broader grasp of the ways in which math supports the very fabric of our lives. At TGES, Math Dept helps the students do just that…..and more!!!
